I have been thinking about starting a blog to document our travel adventures for a long time, but there has always been some excuse, some hesitation, that has kept me from taking the plunge.
Well here we go, Kae and I have decided its time finally start writing.
So whats up with the name- Dream and a Map? Well two key ingredients for a life of travel are having big dreams and finding those amazing out of the way places with a good map. I really like maps, always have, and there is nothing more useful when trying to put a trip together and discovering anew place.
Anyways, I have been fortunate enough to experience and see so much already and I long for more. In the last ten years alone I have had some incredible adventures in amazing places:
- Numerous Backpacking trips throughout the continental U.S.
- Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (x4)
- Four month study abroad trip in the wilds of Namibia
- Trip to Samburu, Kenya as a research assistant
- Five-week honeymoon in Nicaragua
Some of these trips have been with Kae and on others I have ventured out alone. I am always planning the next trip. Traveling for me is a way to experience the unfamiliar, learn, test my own assumptions and beliefs, and pursue adventure. Through this blog I am excited to share my curiosity and passion for far off lands, exotic foods, wild places, authentic moments, new experiences, and vibrant cultures. I hope you will come along for the journey.
